A Windows Jail
Great news!!!
I have a new place to apply my skills. Here’s the bad news. Once again I’m caught in a Windows only environment. It’s really not the end of the world. I just had a pretty rough histroy with Windows.
The number one reason why I decided to abandon Windows was to be legal. If you’re smart enough, I would not have to explain what this means. Another reason is because every dollar really counts when you’re going to college. An incentive to abandoning Windows was to train myself to appreciate the hard work of software engineers.
It’s these people that make everything a lot easier for us. The only thing most people know how to do is use a program. Not many know what goes into a program that makes it so easy for everyone to use. I like to think about it this way. The software engineers think of every possible action that we take in a given program and make everything dummy proof.
Of course not every program is like that. I’ll get into software for advance users in another post.
Even though I’m in a Win-dohs environment, I’ll continue to introduce open source applications such as PDF editors, SugarCRM, Group Office, OpenOffice, and possibly TightVNC. There will be more on that later, but for now, I better return to my burgundy sheets.
