Today is the day I finally realized that I need a new job. After the events that have taken place over the last five days, I am forced to seek employment. My original plan was to find a new job after the summer break, but it looks like that isn’t going to happen. I still have plenty of savings to last the next 1.5 years, but the point is to not spend my savings. I love volunteering my time, but I need to do something for the better of my future. Perhaps I will consider an entrepreneurial venture earlier than I expected.

My little situation got me thinking about the value of rivals and competitors. Our rivals/competitors push us to innovate. They also provide us with advice and indirectly help us. For example, when our competitors run an ad campaign that completely drives customers away from their business, the message that they sent to us was that we should not be doing what they are doing. Every mistake that our competitor makes guides us towards a better business.
